of asana and Pranayama. Ainhoa came to London in 1998 from her native Bilbao, in the Basque Country. She found Iyengar Yoga first during her childhood and then again in 2002 in London. Through practice, she discovered this method had a transformative impact on her health and life through the emphasis on alignment and safety in the practice.
Iyengar Yoga has since become a central part of Ainhoa's life and she continues to enjoy discovering new aspects of Yoga in her daily asana and pranayama practice.
Ainhoa trained to teach at the respected Iyengar Yoga Institute in Maida Vale, London and is qualified to teach at Intermediate Junior 2 level she is currently working towards the Intermediate Junior 3 certificate. She enjoys introducing beginners to the art of Yoga and helping continuing students progress in their practice in a safe, methodical way.
Ainhoa has studied directly with the Iyengar family in Pune three times and continues to deepen her practice through weekly class attendance with her senior teacher and workshops with visiting teachers in the U.K. and abroad. In addition to teaching her own classes, Ainhoa regularly teaches Beginners, General, Gentle and Childrens and Teenagers classes at various venues in London, including The Iyengar Yoga Studio in East Finchley, the Iyengar Yoga studio in Tooting and Yogaloft . She is currently teaching a weekly Beginners class and the Intro course at The Iyengar Yoga Institute Maida Vale, where she also covers General classes and assists in the MS class and specialist workshops, in addition to her weekly Friday morning class at Yogabase. She enjoys the challenge of enquiring deeper into her own practice to inform her teaching.
Ainhoa has a strong interest in the integration of Yoga practice and philosophy in modern life and in making Yoga accessible to all.
Ainhoa is a teacher member of the Iyengar Yoga Association U.K (IYA, UK) and the South West London and Surrey Iyengar Yoga Institute (SWLSIYI).
